Four feeds, one list

GDACS is a joint European Commission and United Nations alerting framework covering earthquakes, tropical cyclones, floods, volcanoes and drought worldwide. NOAA's National Weather Service covers severe weather in the United States in far more detail than any global feed. NASA EONET categorises natural events, FIRMS detects active fires from orbit, and the Smithsonian reports volcanic eruptions weekly.

Why coverage is uneven

The United States appears more often than other countries here, and that is a property of the data rather than of the weather: NOAA publishes detailed, structured warnings that no other national service matches. A quiet map over a region usually means less published data, not less weather.

Domande

What kinds of disasters appear here?

Earthquakes, tropical cyclones, floods, severe storms, tornadoes, extreme heat, wildfires, volcanic activity and tsunamis.

Can I rely on this for emergency warnings?

No. WorldPulse is informational and polls its sources every 5 to 15 minutes. For official warnings and emergency instructions, always consult your local authorities.

Where do the wildfire detections come from?

NASA FIRMS, using VIIRS thermal detections from the Suomi NPP satellite, with roughly 15 minutes of latency.
